Tip of the Week
05/07/13 When the bite is slow and you are vertical jigging, use mono over superline. Mono has give and stretch, non aggressive fish drop bait as fast as possible when they feel something off. Also when jigging on a slow bite a delayed hook set once the bite is felt can land more fish than an instant hook set.

04/28/13 You can find fish in the shallows during bright sunlit days, but the water needs to be dark or extremely windy. Recently on a guide trip we found fish in four feet of water and cast to them. The river was high and the water dirty. This same phenomena of walleyes locating shallow in the day can be true on lakes, however the wind needs to really crash the shallows, then the walleyes will come into the six to eight foot depth.
04/15/13 When fishing lakes for the WI or MN opener makes sure that you have a mix in sizes of minnows. Many times the small fatheads are the best. This is a similar phenomena to how fish choose one minnow over the other based on size. This is size factor actually is common when crappie fishing on the hard water, where they will only hit the tiniest minnows you have.
