About Croixsippi

Hello! My name is Charles "Turk" Gierke, I operate Croixsippi Fishing Guide Service and run this website. I am a longtime "river rat" raised in Stillwater, Minnesota. I have professionally guided for 11 years, and am very committed to making each and every trip a success. I am a licensed and insured US Coast Guard Captain guiding year round for multi species. I have written "how to" fishing articles and been published in Outdoor news, Outdoors weekly, Midwest Outdoors, Fish and Game Finder, Minnesota Sportsman, North American Fishing Club publications, and the Stillwater Gazette. My fishing partners: Scott Hale, Jason Hankes, Billy Mitchell and I have finished in first place six times in St. Croix River walleye tournaments! Including four wins at the St. Croix's largest fishing tournament, the Beanie River Rat. I am also sponsored by Rapala, the world's finest lure maker, and Limit Creek Rods!

Croixsippi guide service covers the St. Croix and Mississippi River waters from Stillwater, Minnesota down south to the Mississippi River town of Red Wing, Minnesota. Along this stretch the two rivers can be both secluded and wild, or built up with historic river towns and residences. The St. Croix River harbors eagles, herons, osprey, white tail deer, wild turkey, and is registered as a National Scenic Riverway. The Mississippi River is dotted with maple tree covered sand islands, and home to many bald eagles, its bluffs hold trophy whitetail deer, its slough and backwaters are more remote than you may have imagined.

The majority of the late spring, summer and fall guide trips are held on the St. Croix River, while winter and early spring trips take place on the Mississippi River near Red Wing, Minnesota. The Croix harbors good numbers of eating size walleye and saugers plus big eight pound walleye, state record size sturgeon, hard fighting smallmouth bass, and huge muskie. Parts of the Mississippi seldom freeze in the winter, allowing year round fishing to anglers. The Mississippi River is without a doubt a world-class walleye and sauger fishery, with huge 10 pound plus walleye caught in the late winter and early spring (I personally caught a 14 pound walleye there!). Wintertime open water angling can be fantastic where 50- 100 fish days are very possible, we typically fish when the day time high will be 30 degrees or higher this light tackle fishing is very memorable!

It's YOUR trip! The St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers are fantastic fisheries blessed with great walleye, smallmouth bass, muskie, and sturgeon populations. Walleye is the specie most requested, but if you want to fish for any of these mentioned gamefish, it's your trip you'll do it. Check out the photos on this site, we catch them! Just discuss specifics while booking the trip, and your needs will be accommodated. Croixsippi welcomes the opportunity to guide anglers of all skill levels, especially novices, it is enjoyable to watch wives out fish their husbands or sons out catch their dads! Get the Net!
