When river fishing I prefer to jig fish with the current. Jigging either from an anchored position or in a vertical jig and drift with the current approach. When the jig is swept with the current it is actually jig trolling. Very rarely will I vertical jig and hover in one place.
As the summer fishing patterns develop working the wind for all species of fish becomes very important. Fishing a shoreline or point that is getting pounded by the wind will often produce great results.
The best livebait riggers believe every tick, bump, or extra weight is a fish. Good anglers are truly eternal optimists...
I use Limit Creek Rods on all my guide trips the LCS69MLF is a walleye killer and the LCSE83MLF extends to 8 foot three and retracts to 6 feet four to fit in rod lockers. In hands of experienced anglers this rod whips walleye, either dragging jigs, slow trolling bait on three way rigs, or slip bobber fishing. www.limitcreek.com
